This is one of the rare original versions which work, as did the original univibe, with an optical circuit. It does mean it takes more current than your average analog pedal, about 150mA, to power the lamp and photocells inside.

The ThorpyFX ER-2 version 1 was an analog Uni-Vibe effects pedal known for its authentic tone and robust, high-quality build. It was, however, discontinued and replaced by the updated ER-2 Block 2 version due to parts obsolescence and power handling limitations.

Key Features of the Original ER-2 (Version 1)

Effect Type: It provided classic Uni-Vibe modulation with switchable Chorus and Vibrato modes via a second footswitch.

Circuitry: It was an all-analog, optical vibe design that used a physical internal lamp and photocells to create its modulation effect.

Controls: In addition to standard Speed, Intensity, and Volume knobs, it featured a unique "Offset" control which allowed users to tailor the character and "throb" of the effect by subtly changing the way the internal lamp ramped up and down.

Power: The pedal was quite power-hungry, requiring a 9V DC center-negative power supply with a current draw of around 150mA. The internal lamp was a potential point of fragility.

Design: It featured a compact, durable, anodized aluminum enclosure with top-mounted jacks and recessed knobs.
