This is a 62-year-old amp, not a reissue. I’ve done my best to cover the facts about it (to the best of my knowledge).
Two main things are not original:
- The cabinet is a replacement. This means no tube chart. However it is solid pine, finger jointed, with birch baffles. Sonically, no different from the original.
- The speaker has been replaced with a Celestion Greenback. I can also ship it with an Alessandro SC 64 instead, if you want.
Outside of that, there’s the usual maintenance stuff. Most of the electrolytics have been updated, etc.
This is a very early example of the blackface version of the DR. No numbers over the inputs and FEI rather than FMIC. The chassis stamp and transformer codes confirm this as well. Definitely player grade, but at least most of the important stuff is original.
Power tubes and rectifier are new production JJ’s. Preamp tubes are a mix of old and new. If I recall, I think there’s even a couple original Fender ones in there. It wasn’t photographed, but there is a doghouse cover.
The amp was completely gone over by Fazio Electric a couple years ago. It sounds killer and is ready to rock for years to come.
Message me if you’d like to pick it up in person in Texas.
