Looking for a new home, My beautiful Carr Rambler 1x12 combo in Tweed, serial #1716, featuring the highly regarded original Carr Elsinore 12" speaker.

This is an earlier-generation Rambler from the Elsinore era, before Carr transitioned the Rambler to its current Valiant speaker. The Elsinore was Carr's proprietary American-made speaker, developed specifically for Carr with a vintage-American/Jensen-inspired character but designed for greater efficiency, stronger low end and a wonderfully musical midrange. These speakers are no longer standard equipment in the Rambler and have developed a following of their own.

And this amp sounds absolutely fantastic. The Rambler is one of Carr's classic designs: 28 watts in Pentode mode or 14 watts in Triode mode, with beautiful tube-driven spring reverb, tremolo and an exceptionally dimensional clean voice. It has tremendous clarity and harmonic richness without being sterile, and it takes pedals exceptionally well. The Elsinore complements the circuit beautifully—big, articulate lows, sparkling but smooth highs and a full, lively midrange response.

This particular Rambler is in very good used condition and excellent operating condition. It has been played and shows some honest cosmetic wear rather than presenting as a collector-grade or "as new" amp. There are a few small areas of wear/separation in the front Tolex that can be seen in the photos, and a scuff mark (circled in red on Picture 10,) and a bit of very light wear overall. Please see the photos for the cosmetic details. It basically looks a bit broken-in rather than "new."

Sonically, the amp is pristine and sounds incredible. The cosmetic wear gives it the appearance you'd expect from a high-quality tube amp that has actually been played and enjoyed, while still presenting very nicely overall.

The original Carr-branded Elsinore speaker remains installed, an important part of what makes this particular Rambler special. For someone specifically looking for an older Rambler with the Elsinore rather than the current speaker configuration, this is the one for you.
