The BOSS PW-2 Power Driver is one of BOSS's more unusual vintage dirt pedals. Produced for only 11 months in 1996, it delivers a thick, gritty distortion with a pronounced low end and midrange character.
The FAT and MUSCLE controls let you independently shape the low and mid frequencies. It's a particularly good pedal for big, aggressive rhythm sounds and saturated alternative/grunge tones, and it can get surprisingly fuzzy at higher Drive settings.
A lot of people say this is Boss's version of a Big Muff. I think it combines aspects of a Big Muff, a DS-2, and perhaps even a Blues Driver into one pedal. Whatever it is, it sounds amazing!
