Manley Variable Mu – Mastering Version Stereo Tube Compressor/Limiter – 2008

Selling my Manley Variable Mu Mastering Version, a centerpiece of my professional mastering setup and one of the classic high-end analog stereo compressors/limiters.

This is the Mastering Version, featuring stepped controls for precise settings and repeatability. The Variable Mu is renowned for its smooth, musical compression and its ability to add cohesion, depth and character to a stereo mix without sacrificing detail.

This unit was purchased for and used in my professional mastering studio and has been meticulously cared for. It is in excellent overall cosmetic condition, particularly for a 2008 unit. Please see the detailed photos for its exact condition.

Original Documentation & Manley Service History

Includes the original Manley Stereo Variable Mu Limiter Compressor Owner’s Manual. I also retained documentation from the unit’s prior service directly through Manley Laboratories, providing additional provenance and service history for this particular unit. Important condition note: The unit powers on normally and the tubes illuminate as shown in the photos. The right VU meter illumination lamp recently went out. This is a new development and is clearly shown in the photographs. I have chosen to disclose it rather than attempt a last-minute cosmetic repair prior to sale.

This is part of a collection of high-end professional mastering and studio equipment I am selling as I transition away from my previous studio setup.

The actual unit being offered is pictured. I have included detailed photographs of the front, rear, chassis, identification/serial information, powered-on condition, tube illumination and original factory packaging so buyers can evaluate it carefully.

It will be carefully packed using its original Manley fitted foam and factory shipping box, with additional outer protection as appropriate for safe transport.
