Description:

Up for sale is a classic Technics SL-DD22 Direct Drive Automatic Turntable System, meticulously crafted in Japan (circa 1986–1988) and presented in its sleek, original factory satin black finish. Renowned for its reliable direct-drive motor and stable tracking performance, this vintage deck comes equipped with an Audio-Technica Series III phono cartridge, making it a highly capable, plug-and-play option for any vinyl listener seeking excellent analog sound.

Operational & Cosmetic Condition

  • Testing: The unit has been powered on and basic record playback functions have been fully evaluated. It is operational, maintaining solid, proper platter rotation speed with smooth cueing mechanism movement. Note that although bench testing was conducted without connection to speakers, the cartridge tracked beautifully and music was clearly audible via mechanical "needle talk" directly from the stylus during playback. (Contact me if you'd like a link to a short video of the turntable spin testing).
  • Tonearm Assembly: The straight tonearm, silver counterweight, gimbal pivot housing, and factory calibration markings are completely intact. The original factory text detailing the pre-set tracking force and anti-skating settings remains fully crisp and legible.
  • Cabling & Chassis: The integrated hardwired AC power cable, grounding wire, and RCA audio output lines appear free of any significant wear. The sleek satin black chassis presents beautifully with clean surfaces.
  • Dust Cover: The attached smoke-tinted dust cover hinges are fully functional, though the plastic hinge tabs show typical structural signs of age and the internal springs have relaxed over time (the lid naturally wants to close after lifting). The clear plastic cover exhibits minor, superficial scuffs and swirl marks entirely expected with age, but remains completely free of major cracks or deep gouges.
