This is a vintage TAMA PM‑423 Power Metal piccolo snare, made in Japan from 1988‑1994.

The original bell brass hoops have been replaced with Tama die‑cast chrome hoops.

It features a solid 3mm cast bell‑brass shell (not rolled sheet brass) in the sought‑after 14×3.25” piccolo depth. Among the Power Metal bell‑brass lineup, the PM‑423 is the rarest variant.

Factory original square lugs and die‑cast chrome hoops. The shell bears light play wear consistent with age. Small dark casting voids are visible in spots both inside and outside the shell. These are characteristic marks from Tama’s sand‑casting process and are not defects. Chrome hardware shows minor surface scratches, no heavy pitting, bends or structural issues.

The piccolo bell‑brass voice is defined by an aggressive, cutting high‑end attack with tight, manageable overtones. Highly responsive and sensitive, it excels in studio environments, pop, funk and fusion work. Low‑end response is minimal, typical for this shallow‑depth snare.

Drumheads are replacements. The snare tunes evenly and operates flawlessly.
