Yamaha YAS-23 Alto Saxophone – Excellent Condition, Recently Serviced, Priced to Sell, Ready to Play

This is a really nice Yamaha YAS-23 alto saxophone in excellent condition. Aside from some scratching, scuffs, and a few insignificant dings that don’t affect the sound at all, the horn is clean and well cared for. It was just very recently professionally serviced and plays incredibly well. The tone is rich, full, and centered with a warm core that really opens up as you push it. It’s perfectly in tune across the entire range, the keys are perfectly regulated, the pads are perfectly leveled with no air leaks whatsoever, and the springs are extra snappy and responsive. Everything feels tight, even, and free-blowing from low Bb all the way up. It just wants to play.

The action is light and quick without feeling spongy, and the horn responds cleanly even when you’re playing soft or digging in harder. There’s a nice evenness through the registers that makes it easy to get around on, and it doesn’t fight you in the upper end or the low end. These older Yamaha student models have a strong reputation for good reason—they’re built tough, they hold their value, and they tend to play better than a lot of the newer budget horns on the market. A lot of players end up keeping these longer than they expected because they just work so well day after day.

It comes with three brand new Vandoren reeds so it’s ready to go from day one. The case does have very slight wear where a small portion of the material is peeling, but about 95% is still intact and it doesn’t affect the security or protection of the horn at all. Whether you’re a student moving up, a doubler looking for something reliable, or just someone who wants a solid alto that doesn’t need any work, this one is ready.
