This *RARE* "Smuggled Era" configuration dates from 1950 to 1970, created when the East German workshop bypassed trade boycotts by moving components to West Germany.
Historical Context
Division of Germany: The Markneukirchen workshop fell inside communist East Germany after 1949.
The "WEST" Mark: Stamped under the frog to meet Western trade rules after being moved across the border.
The "GERMANY" Mark: Placed near the screw to satisfy US customs requirements for American buyers.
Bow Characteristics
Materials: Crafted from the family's master-grade Pernambuco wood stash.
Branding: Features dashes on both sides of the block-lettering stamp on the stick and the "N + Arrow + 1 Circle" frog logo.
This un-strung bow is in fantastic overall preowned vintage condition! Shows expected minor age/use/handling/storage related wear, surface scratches, debris, etc. consistent with prior usage.
Recently acquired at a local estate sale and authenticated by a local well-known violin luthier.
