This is a clone of a Fairfield circuitry Unpleasant Surprise pedal. It uses the Desolate Fuzz pcb from PedalPCB. I have owned the original and this is pretty close to the its core sound. The trickiest part of this build is getting the right value jfets. Basically this is a very very very gated fuzz with a treble toggle and a bit crush toggle. The common response to hearing this is “Wow? What?” The thing I find most lacking is the bit crush toggle because the effect is already so extreme I find that it does little to nothing. If you are looking to add something different to your stable of fuzz effects this is it.
In my builds I get the cases painted and drilled by Tayda. And my assembly includes meticulous soldering. I use lumberg low profile power jacks and good quality in/output jacks. The stomp switches are about $4 alone in parts cost. I simply don’t see myself using this in my music so it’s up for sale. I am a hobbyist.
Would consider reasonable offers. Will ship promptly with reverb safe shipping insurance included.
