This unit comes from my private professional studio and is in impeccable condition. It has been meticulously maintained and requires no recapping; both its aesthetic and functional condition are outstanding, with practically no signs of use.

When I first started experimenting with these compressors years ago, I immediately realized what a beast of a machine this is. The sonic potential was so massive that I eventually ended up acquiring multiple units for my private studio. It was only later that I found out that the late, great engineer Tim Gilles (Slipperman) — the sonic mind behind massive productions and historic sessions for artists such as The Outfield, Cyndi Lauper, Mick Jagger, and Joan Osborne — was an absolute fanatic of these exact compressors. He used them interchangeably alongside his master sections because they share the exact same core dynamics topology as his legendary Amek 9098i large-format console.

These compressors are an absolute masterpiece. Even though they have been unfairly underrated in some internet forums over the years, anyone who has actually worked with one knows its true power during tracking, mixing, and mastering.

The pedigree of this machine is best explained by the master himself. As Rupert Neve stated:

"The System 9098 Dual Compressor Limiter is a direct descendant of the early classic Rupert Neve designs, such as the 2254. In the early days, components were limited, and we had to work within those boundaries. With the 9098, I was able to utilize superior modern components and advanced design techniques that simply were not available during the original 2254 era. This allows the unit to retain that classic, musical harmonic weight and creamy warmth, but with a significantly wider frequency response, lower distortion, and a level of headroom and speed that meets the highest demands of modern high-resolution recording."

The unit features a fully transformer-balanced signal path with Carnhill transformers, delivering exceptional sonic integrity. Its true magic shines when working at lower ratios, providing an incredibly elegant glue to any mix and a creamy sound. I particularly like the limiter.
