It pays homage to the turn-of-the-century "coffin" cases utilized for small-body acoustic instruments in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.Typical Dimensions::: measured OUTSIDE End to End 39". See photos! INSIDE Lower bout across 14" Upper bout across 11'Lower section 20"Depth: 5 1/2" Brown plush (fur type) lining with storage compartment in neck - nice! Key included & the lock works. The approximate dimensions of 40x14 inches match up with the sizing required to snugly store standard small-body parlor acoustic. I have another Parlor guitar and this fits them both nicely as well.
