A highly regarded lamp like the VF14 absolutely replacement in the microphone U47.
These results are very close to the VF14 values measured. EF14 is the best substitute for the VF14, provided that anoptimal operating point is selected.The EF14 provided that an optimum, linear operating point is chosen. Since the internal resistance (Ri) of the EF14 is similar to that of the VF14, an added plus would be its compatibility with the original U47 output transformer.
The lamp has been tested on two machine and is at half its service life.
The anode current of the new lamp is 10 mA and this one is 5.5 mA so it can still work for many years until it drops to 1.0 mA
