The Ampeg Opto Comp is an all-analog, true bypass optical compressor favored by bassists and guitarists for its smooth, vintage-style tone. It gently controls volume peaks and adds sustain without overly "squashing" your dynamics. It features a simple, three-knob (Compression, Release and Output) layout and a built-in LED gain reduction meter.
Compression: Adjusts the threshold and ratio, from subtle peak control to heavy, squishy compression.
Release: Controls the duration of the compression after the signal drops, affecting how the note fades out.
Output: Acts as a master volume to add headroom and make up for heavy gain reduction.
The Opto Comp also features an internal -15 dB Input Pad if needed when using hotter pickups.
