The SansAmp GT2 is a fully analog preamp and amp simulator pedal, introduced in 1993 and widely regarded as a classic for achieving tube amp tones without needing the actual amplifier. It offers three distinct voicings: Tweed, inspired by vintage Fender amps; British, in the style of Marshall; and California, reminiscent of Mesa/Boogie. Three switches let you further shape the gain and tonal character, as well as select from three simulated microphone placements. The Drive, Level, Low and High controls provide additional tone shaping, ranging from warm cleans to powerful overdriven sounds. Thanks to its built-in speaker simulation, it can be used in front of an amplifier, in the studio, or connected directly to a mixing console or audio interface. Simple, rugged and highly versatile, the GT2 remains popular for its analog character, ease of use and ability to deliver a wide range of tones with just a few controls.
