This is a 2012 Gibson Les Paul Studio in Alpine White, a particularly clean and well-preserved example with a beautiful naturally aged appearance.

The original nitrocellulose finish has developed a warm cream/yellow character over the years, giving the guitar a genuinely beautiful natural ageing effect. This is natural ageing, not an artificial relic finish.

The body and finish are exceptionally clean for a guitar of this age, with no dents or significant damage. It has clearly been well looked after throughout its life.

The guitar also retains the original factory markings found inside the pickup cavities, including “AW” in the neck pickup cavity and “LTPST” in the bridge pickup cavity.

Before being offered for sale, this guitar went through a complete inspection, service and setup by Nix Custom Guitars.

This was not simply a quick clean and string change. The instrument was properly inspected and serviced throughout, with attention given only where necessary.

🔥 Pickup wax potting

During testing, the pickups showed microphonic feedback when pushed with high gain. The pickups were therefore carefully wax potted to stabilise them and eliminate the unwanted microphonic behaviour.

The result is a stable, controlled response with no pickup microphonics under the same high-gain conditions.

🔲 Cavity shielding

The relevant cavities were fully shielded, including the electronics cavity, with the shielding properly electrically interconnected.

The shielding and grounding were checked for continuity after the work.

🎛️ Electronics inspection and cleaning

The original Gibson electronics were fully inspected and cleaned, including the pots, PCB and connections.

The controls are now clean, smooth and quiet, with no unwanted pot noise.

🎸 Fretwork

A light fret level was performed across the neck, with selective levelling in specific areas where required.

The aim was to correct what was necessary without unnecessarily removing material from otherwise good frets.

The frets were subsequently crowned and polished, leaving a smooth playing surface and a clean, consistent finish.

🧼 Complete cleaning

The guitar was thoroughly cleaned, including the body, neck, hardware and components.

The granadillo fingerboard was cleaned and conditioned.

⚙️ Tuners

The Grover tuners were inspected and lubricated.

🔩 Nut

The nut was cleaned and lubricated.

🔧 Full setup

After all service work was completed, the guitar received a complete setup and final inspection.

ORIGINAL GIG BAG

The original Gibson gig bag is included.

It was thoroughly cleaned and sanitised, both inside and outside, and left fresh, clean and ready to protect the guitar again.

It has also been left with only a very light and pleasant scent, rather than being heavily perfumed.

The 490R/498T combination gives this Les Paul a very versatile range, while the 498T bridge pickup has that aggressive, raw Gibson character that really comes alive when the gain is pushed.

The natural ageing of the Alpine White nitro finish also gives this particular example considerably more character than a completely fresh-looking example.

CONDITION & HISTORY

This guitar has been very well cared for and remains in excellent overall condition.

The ageing visible in the Alpine White finish is part of the original finish's natural development over time. It has not been artificially reliced.

There are no significant dents, no major damage and no signs of abuse.

The original documentation and truss rod wrench are included, together with the original Gibson gig bag.

The guitar has now been fully inspected, serviced and set up by Nix Custom Guitars and will be carefully prepared for shipping.
