Gibson Mastertone RB-Scruggs Standard 1990

This is a Gibson Mastertone RB-Scruggs Standard five-string resonator banjo, produced in Nashville, Tennessee in 1990. Serial number 1867, die-stamped on the rim interior.

The internal label bears Earl Scruggs' original autograph in blue ink — authentic and correct for the first 1,984 examples produced. A rare detail that speaks for itself.

The banjo is in excellent cosmetic and structural condition. Hardware shows only the surface oxidation you'd expect from a well-kept instrument of this age — nothing more.

Specifications include an 11" three-ply maple rim, 20-hole flathead-style tone ring, one-piece die-cast flange, Presto-style vintage replica tailpiece, highly figured maple neck with adjustable truss rod, "double cut" peghead with mother-of-pearl "hearts & flowers" inlay and script Gibson logo, Scruggs D-tuners on strings 2 and 3, geared 5th string peg, 22-fret ebony fingerboard, and a removable sunburst resonator with figured maple exterior. Nickel-plated hardware throughout.

Comes with the original period-correct hardshell case with textured black vinyl exterior and black plush interior.
