Fender Japan JB62-ASH TBL Jazz Bass from 1997–2000, made in Japan as a rare, limited-production model in a transparent TBL / See-Through Blue finish. This is an unusual variation of the classic ’62-style Jazz Bass, featuring a relatively lightweight ash body, maple fingerboard, pearloid pickguard, and chrome control knobs.

The bass features the classic dual Jazz Bass pickup configuration. The original Fender JB-Vintage pickups have been replaced with a high-quality set of Fender Pure Vintage Jazz Bass pickups, preserving the instrument’s classic tonal character.

The maple fingerboard gives the bass a tight, responsive feel with a clear, articulate attack. The neck pickup delivers a warm, fuller low end, while the bridge pickup offers a more nasal and dynamic tone with the characteristic Jazz Bass bite.

This example has serial number O010611 and is marked Crafted in Japan, corresponding to Fender Japan production from the late 1990s. The JB62-ASH TBL was offered as a limited-production variation outside Fender Japan’s standard catalog lineup.

The bass has undergone a comprehensive inspection and restoration. The frets have been leveled and polished, while the finish, metal hardware, and plastic parts have all been thoroughly cleaned and polished. The instrument shows some light signs of normal use.

The original electronics — pots and output jack — were already in poor condition, so they have been completely replaced along with the wiring.
