Offered here is an exceptionally well-preserved C.G. Conn New Wonder Series II alto saxophone, commonly known as the “Chu Berry”, finished in beautiful gold plate.

This is a remarkably clean example of one of Conn’s classic professional saxophones from the 1920s. The instrument has survived in outstanding cosmetic condition, with the gold-plated finish showing beautifully and the original engraving remaining extremely crisp and knife-sharp.

The saxophone is equipped with Conn’s characteristic micro-tuner neck, which is in excellent condition and operates as intended.

Mechanically, the saxophone has been professionally serviced and adjusted and is ready to play. The pads are genuine-style Conn Res-O-Pads, the traditional type of pad associated with vintage Conn saxophones and still available today from specialist suppliers such as Ferree’s Tools. The pads are not brand new, but they are in excellent condition and did not require replacement during the overhaul.

During servicing, the instrument was carefully checked and adjusted throughout. New cork and felt have been installed where required, and the mechanism has been regulated for proper operation and sealing.
