Panoramica
The Vox AC-30s built by the Dallas Arbiter from 1974 - 1977 are basically a hand-wired return to form, with only the GZ-34 rectifier tube being replaced by a diode bridge. This change does remove some of the natural, musical compression or "sag" that occurs in the original JMI-built amps, but does actually make for a more efficient design which can put out upwards of 40 watts.
The first fifty or so of these "Dallas Voxes" actually shipped with the original, discontinued Alnico Blue speakers which were acquired as part of the purchase from Birch-Stolec, then the remaining amps were built with Celestion Greenbacks. A version with an Accutronics reverb tank was also offered from 1976 - 1977.
