About this listing
Thank you for viewing this listing for 1968 Gibson ES-175. Serial number, 529896, dates to 1966, but it was sold to me as a 1968 issue. I MUST STATE at the top of this listing that this is NOT, nor do I represent this instrument as a collector grade instrument.Evaluators have advised me that the body is the only original equipment on this instrument. Tuners(Kluson, very functional replacement) Nut (unknown replacement, but functional) Pickguard (unknown replacement, but functional), Tailpiece (unknown replacement, but functional), Pickup(Seth Lover-Seymour Duncan SH-55N), Pots (500k CTS), Knobs (unknown replacement, but functional) Output Jack (unknown replacement, but functional)I have made no modifications, other than having fret level-crown-polish, and setup performed by my luthier. There is possibility that this instrument has a headstock repair; I’ve tried to show this in pics. Luthier assures me that, if this is a headstock repair, it is stable; probably has been for years. It appears to me that this is merely a finish crack. However, I feel I must disclose this to you. This 1968 Gibson ES-175 is absolutely FANTASTIC. Tuners are smooth and accurate. Neck is straight, set up with comfortable action, plenty of life left in the frets. Electronics function properly. This guitar plays well and sounds GREAT.There are dings and whorls in the finish, but far fewer than you would expect from an instrument of its vintage. I’ve taken pains to illuminate these as well as I could, in the pictures.Included, is a nice, hardshell case, as well. The binding, with a nice aged patina, is tight, on both body and neck; no cracks or separations. This guitar needs to be played. I’m only selling because I don’t play it nearly enough.
