About this listing
A genuine piece of drum machine history — the Roland CR-78 was the first microprocessor-controlled rhythm machine and one of the most influential drum machines ever made, famously used by Phil Collins, Blondie, and countless others to define the sound of early-80s pop and new wave.Cosmetic condition: Shows honest vintage wear consistent with its age — a couple of mild surface rust spots on the front panel and around the metal on the back panel, both quite minor and hardly noticeable in person. No functional impact. This unit is fully functional and sounds fantastic — loud, clear, punchy analog tones across all the classic voices (bass drum, snare, hi-hat, cymbal, cowbell, claves, tambourine, guiro, and metallic beat). All buttons and controls work well; a couple of the preset rhythm buttons have very minor sticking but function normally with use.Features: • 34 built-in rhythm patterns (Rock, Disco, Waltz, Shuffle, Swing, Bossa Nova, Samba, Mambo, Beguine, and more) • 4 programmable user rhythm memory slots • Variation/Fill-in dial, adjustable Tempo and Accent • Individual volume/balance faders and Add Voice controls • Start/Stop footswitch jack, trigger out, external clock, and write jacks on rear • Made in JapanA must-have for producers, collectors, or anyone chasing that iconic vintage Roland sound.
