It sure took some time for the Kalamazoo company to finally reintroduce the Standard to the catalog—15 years, in fact! After disappearing in 1960, the Les Paul returned in 1968, but only with mini-humbuckers, P-90s, or full-size humbuckers under the Custom label. Here it is at last—the most iconic model—this 1979 Les Paul Standard. This example features the classic Norlin-era construction: a mahogany body, three-piece maple top and neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. The pickups are T-Tops, worthy successors to the original PAFs and Patent Number models. This guitar shows heavy aging, including remnants of a signature on the top and a broken screw in one of the pickup rings. Sold in a generic case.
