The Empress Compressor is a high-end analog compressor made in Canada, designed with a studio-oriented approach rather than the simplified controls found on conventional compressors. Fully analog and exceptionally transparent, it offers three ratios (2:1, 4:1 and 10:1), independent Attack and Release controls, a Mix control for parallel compression, and a true LED meter that displays gain reduction. It can therefore range from subtle dynamic control and added sustain to very pronounced compression, making it particularly well suited to country and funk tones.
