JKC PROTO 1 NAMM 2025 exhibition model - Natural

Hi, we are getting really close to finalising the production models which means this as new NAMM 2025 demo-model can now go to a new home.

The Proto 1 is a lightweight, superbly balanced instrument with excellent ergonomics and a strong, defined low end with loads of definition.

The Bartolini USA pickups have a very high output and make this bass sound amazing. P-sound, Musicman sound or something in between, this bass has it all! It is a passive instrument with a 3-way pickup selector, master volume and tone.

All the hardware is from Gotoh.

The body wood is Cherry and the neck is hard Canadian maple with a zebrawood fretboard, offering a nice mix of warm and bright tones with a fast attack and a strong midrange.

Due to the Gotoh tuners being at the bottom of the body you can use regular strings for this instrument. Just put the strings through the back of the headstock, the ball ends lock in place and tune up at the bottom; "easy peasy" and you get used to it very quickly.

Also, because of the little "bump" on the back of the neck where the headstock would be the neck feels very similar to a neck with a headstock which makes it very easy to adjust to the headless design, even if you have never played a headless before.

It feels exactly the same as a regular bassneck.

One or more extra necks (fretless, different scale length, different wood choices, ...) can be ordered at a relatively low cost .

The body is chambered and very resonant, the neck profile was made to match that of my old Lakland 44-64 which is a PJ bass (like the one Geezer Butler plays) with a jazz width nut, but a slightly deeper D shaped neck profile more similar to the depth of a P-bass neck.

The heel of the neck is hollow and slides over a part of the body, which is then clamped down which results in a very solid, secure connection and good sustain.

The compact size makes this an excellent travel bass that’s easy to use even on the smallest of stages, whilst still being a full scale (34") instrument.

The bass comes with a brand new Gator (guitar sized) gigbag.

Normally these would be priced at 2195€, so grab yourself a bargain.

Testing and pickup is available in Ghent, Belgium.

I can ship well packed and insured all over Europe for +-15€, or with the neck detached for 10€.
