Simmons SDS7 Blue 5-Piece Electronic Drum System + SDS1 + SDS EPB EPROM Blower, Working, 120V Simmons SDS7 early 80s - Blue

This is a rare complete package that includes a working Simmons SDS7 system with five original blue hexagonal pads, a Simmons SDS1, the original Simmons SDS EPB Digital Sampler + E-PROM Blower, approximately seven EPROM chips, and a UV EPROM eraser.

The core SDS7 system is working and configured with the classic five-piece voice arrangement:

• Bass drum
• Snare
• Tom 1
• Tom 2
• Tom 3

All five of these primary channel cards are working. Other channels are working but do not have cards.

There is also one additional SDS7 voice card installed/included that is currently not working. It is included with the system as a repair or restoration item.

Simmons SDS EPB

A particularly rare part of this collection is the genuine Simmons SDS EPB Digital Sampler + E-PROM Blower.

The EPB was designed by Simmons to sample sounds and program EPROM chips for use with compatible Simmons digital percussion systems, including the SDS7 and SDS1.

The EPB is working and is supplied with approximately seven EPROMs plus a UV EPROM eraser, making this a functional period-correct sound programming setup rather than simply an SDS7 drum kit.

Power

Important: this is the US 120V version.

For use in Europe or other 220 to 240V countries, the equipment must be used with an appropriate 230V to 120V step-down transformer/voltage converter.

I have used the system in Finland with the correct voltage converter and it has operated properly.

For buyers in the United States or other 120V markets, it is already the appropriate voltage version.

Mounting

There is no original Simmons rack included.

The pads have mounting connectors/clamps that allow them to be mounted to conventional cymbal stands or suitable drum hardware.

The cymbal stands, acoustic cymbals, pedals and other conventional drum hardware shown in any setup/reference photograph are not included unless specifically stated otherwise.

Condition

The system is original vintage Simmons equipment from the 1980s and shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with its age and use.

The blue pads retain the unmistakable classic Simmons appearance. Please study the photographs carefully for cosmetic condition.

The main SDS7 five-voice system is working, as are the SDS1 and SDS EPB. The additional spare SDS7 card is not working.

Because this is approximately 40-year-old vintage electronic equipment, it is sold as vintage equipment and no guarantee can be made regarding future service requirements.

Complete SDS7 systems appear relatively infrequently, but this package also includes the SDS1 and the genuine Simmons EPB sampling/EPROM programming system.

It therefore represents a substantial collection of original Simmons technology from the classic period rather than a collection assembled from modern replacements.
