1939 Martin 00-18 Pre War GuitarAll originalThis guitar is in absolutely amazing condition for its agePre-war 00-18s are some the best guitars ever made and still present a great value for the sound.Owning this guitar is owning a piece of history. This guitar was passed down through the same family until I purchased it years ago. This guitar was played on stage in a Texas Bluegrass band in the early 1940s and 1950s. Whoever played this guitar made sure to take amazing care of it. This guitar is all original. The Bridge was sanded back in the day in order to lower the action. This guitar plays and sounds amazing. The V shaped neck profile is extremely comfortable. This guitar is in great shape with minimal blemishes for its age! There is one small partil dented area by the strap holder that you can see in the photos. This does not affect the structure of the guitar or the sound. This is one of the cleanest Pre-war martins you will find.Comes with an aftermarket hard shell caseAs part of the Martin 18 series, the 00-18 usedMahogany for its back and sides (though examples from prior to 1917 used Rosewood). Like other orchestra or auditorium-sized Martins, the 00-18 is considered an excellent finger-style guitar. The 00-18 changed from 12 to 14 clear of the body in 1933 and 1934, which also brought an update to the body shape. Just like Martin Dreadnoughts, 00-18s from between 1934 and the beginning of World War II are the most sought-after by collectors.Unique to this Era: Transition from Ebony to Rosewood fingerboard occurs throughout late '30s.Wood Composition: Mahogany back and sides, Spruce top, Mahogany neck, Rosewood fingerboardDesign Elements: Unbound fingerboard, 14-frets (clear of body), 9-ring soundhole rosette, dot inlays, rounded belly bridgeYou will be very happy with this guitar! Can ship WW.Let me know if you have any questions,Thank you!
