1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb Amp AB763 – Blackface

We present an original 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb Amp AB763 – Blackface, made in Fullerton, California. ’64 Deluxe Reverbs are generally more rare and sought-after than later ’65, ’66, and subsequent production years.

Condition

This fantastic ’64 Deluxe Reverb is in exceptionally clean condition – it is very rare to find an example this well preserved. A true studio favourite, it delivers incredibly dynamic and glassy tube tones. The reverb is lush, with a long and smooth decay. The black control panel remains beautifully clean, with all lettering fully visible. It features original black tolex and grey grille cloth in excellent condition, along with a handle that is also in exceptionally clean condition.

Featuring the no-logo front and the “Electric Instrument Co.” panel, these details clearly identify this amp as an early and highly desirable example from the Blackface line.

Originality

This 1964 Deluxe Reverb has been well cared for over the years and was recently serviced to ensure perfect operation. The service includes replacement of a few capacitors and resistors to ensure stable and optimal performance. Otherwise, the original AB763 circuit remains intact and in excellent condition. All transformers are original as well.

It features the original Oxford 12K5 speaker, which has recently been professionally reconed by our amp technician. The original 2-prong power cord has also been replaced with a modern 3-prong grounded cord for safer operation. The reverb spring unit is new, ensuring perfect functionality, and the “death cap” has been removed for safe use.

The amplifier even comes complete with its original footswitch.

To keep it as original as possible, a step-down transformer is required for use in Europe. We have these in stock and they can be purchased through Guitar Hunter.
