Mapex Black Panther Black Widow for sale — a professional, rare, and highly distinctive five-piece shell pack from Mapex’s high-end Black Panther series.

This is not an entry-level kit, not a “semi-pro” kit, and not simply a drum set that looks impressive. It is a serious instrument, equally at home in the studio or on stage, and ideal for someone looking for something with real character and a certain level of collectable value rather than another mass-produced drum kit.

The shells are made from six-ply North American maple. The tom shells are approximately 5.1 mm thick, while the bass drum shell is approximately 7.2 mm. The kit features 45-degree bearing edges, Sonic Saver hoops, a Transparent Black Lacquer finish, and dark brushed black chrome hardware.

It looks exceptionally classy in person, with a dark and luxurious finish. The sound is modern, melodic, full, warm, and highly responsive, with a defined attack and controlled sustain.

The toms are fitted with brand-new Remo Controlled Sound batter heads.
The resonant heads are Evans G1.

The bass drum includes either a brand-new Evans EMAD2 batter head or, alternatively, the rare original branded Remo Powerstroke 3 Suede used batter head. The resonant head is a Mapex Black Panther Suede Powerstroke 3.

A Kicker 2.0 foam damper is installed inside the bass drum, so it is already properly set up and ready to use without having to experiment with pillows or blankets.

Also included is a set of Millenium padded drum bags with light reinforcement. A comparable set of bags is worth approximately €80–100.

Condition:

The kit was purchased new in 2016. It was used in the studio and at live shows for several years, and later only occasionally for concerts, as professional rental-company kits were usually provided. Most of the time, it remained stored in the studio. Since 2024, it has been used very rarely.

It has always been kept in proper, climate-appropriate rooms suitable for musical instruments — never in a garage, warehouse, or damp environment.

For a ten-year-old instrument, I would rate the condition at 9.5/10. There are a few minor cosmetic marks that are only noticeable upon close inspection, but overall, the kit is exceptionally clean and well cared for.

Everything works exactly as it should. There are no cracks, serious defects, or hidden issues.

This is a kit for someone looking for a genuine high-end instrument to keep for many years — possibly even for life.
