Aurora Audio GTP1 Mono Preamp

Designed by the brilliant Geoff Tanner, the Aurora Audio GTP1 is a single-channel preamp built on the same circuitry as the GTP8 and essentially a GTQ2 without EQ. It’s not a clone, but an original Aurora design featuring exclusive input and output transformers for rich, musical tone.

The DI uses a pair of bootstrapped transistors, offering 10 MΩ input impedance and an additional +10 dB of gain—perfect for guitars and instruments, capturing every nuance without loading the pickups. It also handles high-level line signals, making it equally versatile for playback devices.

Gain is adjustable in 10 dB steps from –10 dB to +80 dB, with a level pot for fine control from +6 dB to –6 dB (down to infinity), allowing everything from clean precision to overdriven textures.

A robust custom switching power supply provides massive headroom and accepts global voltages (85–265 V, 50/60 Hz). The all-steel chassis ensures durability, shielding, and reliability on the road or in the studio.
