VIDEO! vintage 1970s MIJ Luxor (Kasuga) "pre-lawsuit" L200 guitar made in Japan - pro Setup, player ready

Intro

Beautiful and rare “lawsuit era” Japanese guitar. This one is badged “Luxor”, and features a Rose Morris distribution sticker with the model name L200. The serial numbers on the back of the pickguard and the pots date it to 1976. The guitar still features a 3 way switch instead of a 5 way. According to some research this was made in the Kasuga factory. Luxor was a brand of German instruments distributor Musikhaus Manfred Hack out of Göttingen.

As always, the instrument has been cleaned, professionally set up with a set of new strings and is ready to be played immediately.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-Scale:  648mm

-Nut: ca 41 mm

-Weight: 3,54 kg

-Pickups: likely by Maxon (as the serial number of the back of the pickguard indicates), yet the bridge pickup is a replacement of unknown origin. The mid and neck pickup both measure about 6,3K, the bridge pickup a whopping 12,36k, giving it extra loudness without being a humbucker. Maybe a DiMarzio replacement? See pics. Please note that the guitar  has a 3 way switch, not a 5 way, and the switch cannot be rammed into the between-positions.

-Body: solid wood, which looks like maybe 2-3 slabs on top of each other; probably the bottom is a mahogany with maybe an alder slab on it and a maple top? Not sure. No plywood in any case.

-Neck:  slim and wide C, maple with maple fretboard. Likely 7,25’’ radius with typical low, vintage style small frets.

Condition:

-Body: good condition with no issues, only some scratches. Two small lacquer fissures in the neck pocket.

-Neck: neck is straight, trussrod works, the frets are in good condition (8/10) with a couple of minor crevasses. No buzz, great low string action dialed in.

-Head: Great condition, almost near mint.

-Hardware: some signs of age

-Electrics: everything works

-Originality: all original as far as I can tell except for the bridge pickup, and the pickguard screws (the guitar came with hardware shop screws when I got it.)

Sound and Playability:

-Playability and string action: If you like vintage F-style fretboards, this will be highly enjoyable to play with its rounded fretboard, slim neck, small frets. The string action is low with no buzz. The trem is currently held by 5 (!) springs which all seem to be original, so I left them. If you need more schwang-room, just take 1-2 out.

-Sound: please listen to the video – the guitar offers a nice vintage tone, ideal for blues and classic rock.

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

-Completely cleaned

-Frets polished and fretboard cleaned/oiled

-Electronics serviced and tested for functionality

-New pickup rings made and installed/vintage set of Japanese tuners installed.

-New Pyramid 10 nickel strings put on

-Setup concluded and ready to be played (just tune it up)

Auxiliary stuff:

-No case or gigbag included. The item will be wrapped well, and put into a sturdy cardboard box with lots of filler material. If you wish I can buy a fitting case or gigbag at your costs.
