The Amphion One18 is a passive two-way studio monitor built around clarity, precise imaging and reliable translation. Designed and handmade in Finland, it has become one of Amphion’s most widely used studio monitors, equally suited to recording, production, mixing and mastering.

At the heart of the One18 is a 6.5-inch aluminium woofer paired with a 1-inch titanium tweeter and Amphion’s distinctive waveguide. The crossover is positioned at a relatively low 1600 Hz, allowing the drivers to behave more like a point source through the critical midrange. The waveguide also helps time-align the drivers, contributing to the monitor’s excellent phase coherence, stable phantom centre and highly precise representation of width, depth and placement within a mix.

Rather than relying on DSP to correct its behaviour, the One18 uses carefully engineered acoustic design. This keeps the signal path simple and allows engineers to use external room correction or processing when required without adding another internal digital stage. The controlled dispersion also creates a wide, usable listening area and allows the One18 to retain detail and intelligibility at relatively low monitoring levels.

Low-frequency reproduction is handled by a passive radiator rather than a conventional reflex port. This approach helps the One18 deliver controlled, detailed bass while distributing low-frequency energy into the room more evenly. With a specified response of 45 Hz to 20 kHz ±3 dB, the One18 provides substantial low-frequency information from a relatively compact nearfield enclosure.

The result is a monitor that combines analytical accuracy with a natural, non-fatiguing presentation. Whether used as the main monitoring system in a project studio, as nearfields in a larger control room, or as part of a multichannel setup, the One18 is designed to reveal the information needed to make confident decisions without getting in the way of the creative process.
