The Gretsch Catalina EVO 4-piece Kit Walnut Glaze combines the look and layout of a compact acoustic drum kit with the sound, practice and recording capabilities of an electronic drum kit. The four-piece drum set comprises an 18" x 12" bass drum, a 10" x 7" tom, a 12" x 12" floor tom and a 14" x 5.5" snare drum. The setup is complemented by a 14" hi-hat, a 16" crash and an 18" ride, each with three playing zones. The included Gretsch Explorer Hardware Pack comprises, amongst other things, a hi-hat stand and a bass drum pedal. Trigger presets, individually adjustable sensitivity and hi-hat calibration allow the kit to be tailored to your personal playing style.

The Catalina EVO sound module offers over 500 instrument sounds, 50 ready-to-play factory kits and 128 memory slots for your own kits. In the integrated kit editor, you can edit the tuning and sound mapping, as well as select a second drum sound.

You can integrate your own samples via WAV import using a USB stick. For sound processing, each pad features a compressor and a fully parametric 3-band equaliser. Sample-based room effects, twelve algorithms each for Room Reverb and Instrument Reverb, and nine multi-effect algorithms expand the creative possibilities.

A compressor and a fully parametric 4-band equaliser are also available for the headphone and master outputs.

For stage and studio use, the module features a stereo master output and four additional direct outputs with configurable routing. The USB-C interface transmits audio and MIDI and supports recording of eight audio channels and playback of four audio channels on a computer. Bluetooth Audio enables wireless music playback, whilst the module can connect via Bluetooth MIDI to the Gretsch E-Drum Remote app for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. According to the manual, the app provides access to all of the module’s settings. A USB song player with a loop function and adjustable playback speed, an adjustable metronome and built-in coaching functions support daily practice. You can also record your own performances directly as WAV files onto a USB stick.
