About this listing
Up for sale is a genuine Made-in-Japan Fender Stratocaster from 1985/86, finished in aged vintage white with a rosewood fretboard. Serial A016461, "MADE IN JAPAN" stamped on the neck plate, built at the Fujigen factory during the era when — following CBS's sale of Fender and the closure of the Fullerton plant in early 1985 — Fender leaned heavily on its Japanese production. A nice piece of Fender history from the transition years. This is an honest, all-original instrument that's been sitting untouched in its case for around 35 years. I've deliberately left it completely unrestored so the next owner can decide how to bring it back. What's good:Neck is straight and true — no warping or twistingFrets have plenty of life left, not worn flatAll-original hardware and electronics — nothing swapped, modded, or "upgraded"Original transition-logo headstock ("Fender Stratocaster," Original Contour Body)Comes with its original hardshell case (well-worn but functional)What needs work (honest disclosure):Electronics need servicing/replacementHeavy corrosion on the bridge, saddles and pickup screws (surface, from age — see photos)General grime, light finish checking and play wear consistent with its ageCase is battered but does its jobPriced as a restoration/player project for someone who'll appreciate an unmolested, all-original '80s MIJ Strat. Sold as-is. Plenty of detailed photos included — serial, headstock, neck, hardware, and all the flaws. Happy to take more on request.Local pickup in The Ponds (Sydney).
