BUILD & DESIGN

The K3N preamp features a slim cylindrical metal body with a classic industrial finish. It uses a 3-pin small Tuchel connector (DIN standard), typical of Sennheiser’s professional systems of the era. The unit includes an on/off switch and a 3-step high-frequency roll-off filter, allowing practical tonal shaping directly on the body.

SOUND CHARACTERISTICS
This system delivers a clean, articulate condenser sound with a controlled top end and a practical presence lift around the upper mids.

The ME 40 offers a slightly fuller low-end perception due to proximity effect, making it excellent for close-miking sources like snare or percussion.

The ME 80 is tighter and more focused, ideal for isolating specific elements in a mix or capturing sources at distance — for example, live percussion, shakers, or directional spot miking in ensemble recordings.
