This Independence 35 is in very good condition and fully functional — tested and working as it should across all three channels. The black tolex is in good shape overall with some minor scuffs and light scratches on the corners, consistent with an amp that's been used but looked after. Nothing that affects function or structural integrity, and nothing that would surprise you on a gigging head.
All controls, switches, and jacks are clean and responsive. The Operate/Stand-By and On/Off toggles feel solid. The cream chicken-head knobs are all present and in good shape.

The Independence 35 is Matchless's first and only three-channel guitar amplifier — 35 watts of hand-wired, point-to-point, Class A power built in Los Angeles. Each channel has its own character and its own color on the backlit nameplate: Channel 1 (blue) is a clean, compressed rhythm channel driven by a single 12AX7. Channel 2 (white) adds chunk and high-gain lead capability from its own 12AX7. Channel 3 (red) is the full-tilt drive channel with its own gain, volume, bass, treble, cut, and a bypassable master volume. The power section runs a 5AR4 rectifier into a pair of cathode self-biasing EL34s, delivering the harmonic richness and dynamic response that Class A operation is known for. Channels are switched via the included footswitch.
This is the non-reverb version of the Independence 35. Reverb is available as a factory option on current production models.
