The Captor X+ is the latest evolution of Two Notes' reactive load box platform, and it packs a serious amount of capability into a compact, road-ready enclosure. At its core, it's a 100-watt reactive load box and three-step attenuator built for 16-ohm tube amps, but that only scratches the surface of what it actually does.
The headline upgrades over the original Captor X are the True Stereo DynIR engine and the new Virtual Load Shaper. The DynIR engine lets you independently position and pan two virtual microphones across the stereo field, creating a genuine three-dimensional soundstage from your mono amp signal — whether you're running True Stereo or Dual Mono routing. The Virtual Load Shaper applies post-load impedance curves to reshape the tonal character of your direct signal without affecting your connected cabinet, giving you a set of purpose-built tonal profiles that add warmth, tighten the low end, or push upper-mid bite.
The unit ships with 32 DynIR virtual cabinets covering guitar and bass, each loaded with 8 microphones and 13 room simulations. You get 128 preset slots with 6 quick-access locations right on the hardware, and the full effects suite includes reverb (12 models), a Twin Tracker double-tracking engine, semi-parametric EQ, an enhancer, noise gate, and a tuner. The static IR loader supports up to 512 custom IR files with lengths up to 200ms at a minimum latency of 1.27ms.
Control happens through the Torpedo Remote app — wirelessly via phone or tablet over Bluetooth, or over USB-C on a computer. Hardware controls for Voice and Space give you fast access to global tone shaping and stereo width without reaching for the app. All outputs — headphones, dual XLR, and speaker — operate simultaneously and independently, so you can run your cab on stage while sending a fully processed stereo signal to front of house or your recording interface.
A lifetime GENOME license is included, giving you access to Two Notes' full plugin ecosystem for in-the-box recording and tone shaping through your DAW.
