PHA-50 Hammer-Action Keyboard

The FANTOM-8EX features 88 PHA-50 keys with a wood and plastic hybrid structure, escapement, ebony/ivory feel surfaces, and channel aftertouch. This hammer-action keybed delivers the realistic piano response that pianists require, with graded weighting from heavy in the bass to light in the treble. It provides the most expressive playing experience in the FANTOM EX lineup, making it the natural choice for performers who rely on nuanced dynamics and acoustic piano realism.

Internally, the FANTOM-8EX is identical to the rest of the EX series. Five sound engines deliver the full Roland sound palette: ZEN-Core (up to 256-voice polyphony), ACB (component-level analog circuit modeling), V-Piano (physically modeled grand pianos), SuperNATURAL (acoustic and electric instruments), and VTW (tonewheel organ). Eleven expansion titles are preinstalled, including JUPITER-8, SH-101, and JX-3P ACB Expansions; n/zyme and JD-800 Model Expansions; the German Concert V-Piano Expansion 01; and more.

The n/zyme wavetable engine, dual CV/Gate outputs for modular integration, a 6-in/32-out USB audio interface (24-bit/48 kHz), and a 16-track sequencer with TR-REC round out a complete production and performance platform. Studio-grade effects include the Shimmer Reverb and Modulation Reverb algorithms developed specifically for the EX series.
