Up for sale is my Colby Horton Cutom OM [OOO body] with solid Mahogany back and sides and a solid (bearclaw) Sitka Spruce top with a beautiful rich golden hued aging toner. Colby Horton | OM | Serial #18 | 7•25•2007 | Nitrocellulose Lacquer

This build is just aesthetically beautiful!

This guitar is all Acoustic.

My sales are very controlled by myself only as I am a private seller and not a store shop, so if the guitar is up for sale on Reverb then it is available for purchase; the guitar shipped to you will be exactly the one in the advertisement pictures. Once I list a guitar for sale on reverb it is not used or touched again unless there is a seller's reason to do so.

I am not the original owner of this guitar a few years now - however it has little play time on it - my reason for selling is to thin the herd. I purchased it resale many years ago from Luthier's Pride , NJ , USA

I'm a man-cave player , so this Horton OM has never been out of my home , and unless played , it's in the case , in my temp/humidity controlled environment.

It is in Excellent to Mint condition for its age, no scratches, no dings, and may find only the faintest micro swirling - just 'cause that's the way I keep all my instruments. I am going to rate this 'Mint' condition because it is well aged without any noticeable flaw.

I give this guitar two thumbs up for it's amazing clear balanced full bodied tone and all American build quality.  I play only fingerstyle guitar and this one has a solid great feel and lively open tone to it.

There are many great guitars that are made by private Artisan Luthier's whose name appear only amongst the few instrument builds they put out , but sonically compare among the best small shop Luthier's guitars that have the more recognizable names ; in that regard with this relatively moderate priced build , i can firmly class this in sonically with other builds i have in the ~$5K range. If you want to hear a sound clip , let me know , I will only produce one if asked by a serious interest.

I will rate this guitar and price it accordingly similar [plus one step up] to my John David Scott (JDS) custom OM in flame Maple and Sitka top , I still have also listed here on Reverb. These two guitars would be in the same class of workmanship and solid tone , and represent unprecedented value for a custom guitar.

This guitar has amazing construction , wood selection and specs for the price , with some of the key features being...

- American build construction ; Tiplersville , MS , USA

- Solid (bearclaw) Sitka Spruce top w/aging toner (bearclaw)

-Mahogany back and sides with an Ebony accents throughout

- high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish full body and headstock plate

- Ebony fretboard with abalone leaf inlays

-Ebony headstock plate with colorful abalone inlay

-wood marquetry Rosette with custom bevel OM size pick guard and ½ herringbone purfling

-Gotoh tuners (gold finish)

Using digital calipers the nut width is 1.80" [45.8mm]

and string spacing at the saddle is 2.26" outside to outside on the E strings.

Scale Length 25" &½" inch

Mahogany body depth...

Lower bout at the end = 4" &¾" inch

Upper body at the neck = 3" &⅝" inch

Lower bout 15" inch

Upper bout 11 &¼" inch

I would describe the neck as fuller feeling yet tapering "C" shape with gloss finish ; the action is perfect for fingerstyle.

As for the radius I give it a 12 inch average feel similar to a Larrivee fretboard ; I don't  have the instrument  to measure this exactly.

This guitar is set up with a brand new set of

D'Addario EXP 80/20 Bronze strings (12_53 gauge ; i happen to tune my guitars most often E-flat to e-flat). This guitar sound and looks absolutely amazing!

It also comes with what appears to be a vintage TKL hard shell case with a crushed velvet interior all in excellent condition.

The guitar will be in the exact condition I have advertised it and all the pics are taken the same day this adv. was posted.

My asking price is set more than reasonable, and sale priced which is already several points better than reasonably good , and is currently low as I'm willing to take it , so the b.o. option is not available.

This guitar is available for Local Pick-up in the Greater Toronto Area ; Meeting will need to be arranged at a pre-agreed area inside of a major mall within the GTA only.

Important notice for Local Pick-up only:

Local Pick-up will require a $1,000 deposit fee paid in advance via an e-transfer prior to meeting ; this will help ensure a commitment to complete the purchase ; the full amount deposit fee will be deducted from the listed selling price in the final payment.

Reverb is an On-line sales platform ; some have gotten the wrong idea that meeting is to have an opportunity to "try" the guitar to make a decision whether to purchase ; not so ; the only reason for meeting is to complete the transaction at the advertised sale price , also no re-negotiating the price ; and to give the buyer an opportunity to pay only for the guitar list price yet excluding the shipping cost and the obligatory platform sales taxes. There will be no handling of the guitar until it is paid for in full ; there are plenty of pictures and instrument information here in the advertisement to help with a decision to purchase. No Trades. This is a private sale and not a store shop.

Note: If you intend to pick up this instrument Locally please notify me first _before payment is made via Reverb so I can remove the shipping charge ! I do Not want to have to refund the shipping charge _it does not work out well at my end in the final balance of payment !

Important Notice for Local Pick-up - you will absolutely have to Mark the 'Received Item' on the Reverb phone app. and show me as you process , before i can hand the case and guitar over to you - afterward you may review it as you wish - but please be reminded , once paid , my sales are advertised as 'final sale & no return'.

This is a private sale but sales taxes are collected by Reverb on behalf of the CDN government via new rules for on-line sales for CDN residents.

Local Pick-up/?  message me about paying off of Reverb with an e-transfer or cash at place and time of meeting  _to avoid the platform's obligatory sales taxes collection.  There will be no re-negotiating the advertised sales price at that time ; and yes , I still will have to pay to Reverb their sales commission listing fee.

The sale is final and there is no refund policy.

Thanks for looking and let me know if you are interested - the best way to contact me is via direct messaging Reverb platform.

Thank you ! erik@ag
