Here is a vintage Tama GranStar Powerline PL106 Custom. This is a seamless Chrome Over Steel snare with tube lugs rather than sharktooth lugs. It's 14"x6.5". This is a very rare 8 (4 over 4) line, olive green label Tama from Owariasahi Aichi Japan. This dates it roughly between 1975 - 1985. It is in impeccable condition and comes with the original stamped throw-off and MIJ stamped strainer. Mighty Hoop rims. This snare comes from a studio and was properly stored in a hardcase and climate controlled environment.
Tama drums were manufactured in Owariasahi, Aichi, Japan, during the 1970s and 1980s. This city was also a hub for auto parts manufacturers, and Hoshino Gakki (the parent company of Tama) maintained strong relationships with local factories for producing metal components. The Owariasahi location is specifically mentioned on some vintage Tama drum pedals and hardware.
