As happens on this unit with time, sometimes need to pump-prime the power button a few times to get it to 'take'. 2. the input knob presses, turns and encodes properly but comes off easily (non-issue if using software only); desk- or angle-mounting the unit reduces this problem. Aside from testing I never used the front panel knobs, did everything in software.

I've been using it as a DAC converter for summing. Make sure your computer is running Maestro2 software to customize the settings, you'll need an available FireWire port, and you're off to the races. I've also done extensive comparison testing of the mic preamps: the Ensemble FireWire preamps are virtually identical to the Ensemble Thunderbolt preamps. Four very solid preamps ADC via ADAT/SMUX/SPDIF.

You do need an older Mac/macOS to run Apoogee Maestro2 to set up the standalone (settings persist in flash storage, no internal batteries to maintain). Once you set up the standalone, simply unplug the FireWire cable for computer-free operation.
