Overview

The Genelec 4040A is the largest model in the 4000 series, built for larger fixed installations that need higher playback levels and deeper bass. Typical rooms include theatres, restaurants, conference rooms, museums, art galleries and sports centres. A 6.5 in cone woofer and a 3/4 in metal dome tweeter each have their own 120 W Class AB amplifier. The amplifiers, active crossover and driver protection sit inside the die-cast aluminium enclosure, so no external power amplifier is needed.

Key Features

  • Active design: Drivers, power amplifiers, active crossover filters and protection circuitry are all inside the speaker.
  • MDE enclosure: The die-cast aluminium Minimum Diffraction Enclosure is shaped to reduce edge diffraction.
  • DCW waveguide: Genelec's Directivity Control Waveguide controls dispersion and reduces early reflections from nearby surfaces.
  • Room response controls: Bass Roll-Off of -2, -4 or -6 dB near 55 Hz, Bass Tilt of -2, -4 or -6 dB below 800 Hz, and Treble Tilt of +2, -2 or -4 dB above 4 kHz.
  • Level control: A rotary control on the rear panel matches the input sensitivity to the source.
  • Autostart: The amplifier switches to standby when no signal is present and back on when signal returns. Rear switches set the trigger sensitivity and select a shorter 15 minute off time.
  • 12 V trigger: A 12 V DC trigger on the input connector switches the speaker remotely and overrides Autostart.
  • LED Off switch: Turns off the green power LED while the red overload LED stays active.
  • Mounting options: Two sets of M6x10 mm rear threads take Omnimount Series 30 and König & Meyer mounts or the included keyhole wall mount, and an M10x10 mm threaded hole on the base can secure the speaker to its base.
  • Finishes: Black, white or RAW, which is unpainted recycled aluminium with a slightly different look on every enclosure.
