The Blackstar Unity 30 is a 30 W bass combo for practice and recording at home. A custom-designed 8-inch speaker carries three preamp voices, a 3-band EQ with a sweepable Mid and a built-in compressor, and the headphone and XLR outputs make it easy to play quietly or record direct. A Cabinet Link output adds a Unity 250ACT active cabinet when you need more volume.

Voices, EQ and Effects

Three preamp voices set the starting point. Classic has a tube-inspired growl, Modern gives high headroom with punchy dynamics, and Overdrive adds a smooth, open drive with a harmonically rich bite. The Low control works at 80 Hz and the High at 5 kHz, while the Mid sweeps from 200 Hz to 2 kHz for anything from a scooped sound to one that cuts through a band. A Pad switch matches the input to passive or active pickups, and a clip light helps you set the Gain. Chorus and the fixed-threshold compressor each have their own switch, and an optional 2-button latching footswitch such as the FS-8 switches Overdrive and Chorus.

Practice, Recording and More Power

The balanced XLR line out feeds a PA, mixer or audio interface, and the 1/4-inch line out doubles as a headphone jack. Both follow their own Line Out Level control, and they keep working with the Master turned to zero for silent practice. The 3.5 mm MP3/Line In plays music through the speaker and line outputs so you can play along. The Cabinet Link XLR output connects one or more Unity 250ACT active cabinets, each adding up to 250 W through a 15-inch Eminence speaker.
