About this listing
Trembucker pole spacing for Fender-style guitars: Few guitar pickups have earned the reputation of the Seymour Duncan JB Model (TB-4). Its story begins in the early 1970s, when Seymour Duncan was working at the Fender Soundhouse in London and rewound a pair of vintage humbuckers as prototypes for Jeff Beck's "Tele-Gib," the humbucker-loaded Telecaster Beck played while recording Blow by Blow in 1974. The JB (for Jeff Beck) became the SH-4 when Seymour launched his pickup company in 1976, and it has been one of the most popular aftermarket humbuckers ever since. Voiced to push amps (and eventually pedals) harder, the JB delivers tight crunch, sparkling highs, and singing harmonics that make it a favorite for both rhythm and lead work. It has been installed as original equipment in countless production guitars, and for classic rock, blues, and hard rock you just can't go wrong with a JB.
This uncovered black bridge humbucker is built around an Alnico 5 bar magnet with a balanced coil design for quiet, hum-canceling performance, and it is vacuum wax potted to keep microphonic squeal in check at high gain. The four-conductor lead opens the door to series, parallel, and coil-split wiring, so one pickup can cover a lot of tonal ground. Pair it with a Seymour Duncan Jazz Model (SH-2n) or '59 Model (SH-1n) in the neck position for a time-tested combination that suits everything from vintage blues to modern rock and metal.

In the words of Seymour Duncan...Blues, country, fusion, punk, hard rock, grunge, thrash; the JB has always sounded just right, even as new genres emerged around it. The low end is full and powerful, the highs are crisp and detailed and there’s an upper-midrange bump that adds crunch and chunk to heavy chords but translates to a singing, vocal-like quality when you play single notes or solos. Meanwhile the hot output pushes your amp just that little bit harder for more sustain and harmonics.

The JB Model humbucker is our most popular pickup of all time. Blues, country, fusion, punk, hard rock, grunge, thrash; the JB has always sounded just right, even as new genres emerged around it.
Use it with a 500k volume pot for great high-end cut, or try a 250k pot to sweeten and soften the tone for smoother styles. It pairs particularly well with the Jazz or ’59 neck pickups, and some players even like to use a JB in the neck position for an extra-fat solo tone.
Hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA factory, the JB Model uses an Alnico 5 bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options like series, parallel and split coil, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance. Available in standard humbucker and Trembucker spacing for 6-String, as well as passive mount 7-String options.
