- Istanbul’s LEGEND Series (also known as the MEL LEWIS Series) is, well, legendary.
- It has long been one of Agop and Mehmet’s best-selling series. It put them on the map 30 years ago.
- Mehmet expanded the series and this LEGEND DARK is one of my favorites. As you can see it has a wide-lathed, alternate gold and brown top side - like a Turk mixed with a Traditional, while the underside is fully lathed like a Traditional or regular Legend series. Very Agop Sig Ish. Or Bosphorus New Orleans but darker and with a rich fullness.
- The result is an absolutely fantastic sounding DARK FULL CRASH that cuts without clanking through life.
- The edges are bendable and the raw bell gives it a nice attack.
- Lush but can still cut.
- At only 1378 grams it plays like a Thin to Medium Thin Crash but it’s darker and lower-pitched than many a K Zildjian.
- Actually being Hand Hammered offers a rich, fullness that a machine-made Zildjian can only dream of.
- A hint of dryness - compliments of the semi-lathe handiwork. Organic. Dark. Smoky Fairly complex. Medium decay.
- Easily rideable with a light touch. Incredibly versatile.
- No issues. Immaculate shape. Only played for the video! A true DARK CRASH.
