Roland CR-5000:
Vintage Analog Rhythm Machine
Description
The Roland CR-5000 is an analog rhythm machine released by Roland in 1981, and is a mid-range model in the company's “CompuRhythm” series. It was developed for a wide range of users, both professional and amateur, for home music production and demo creation. This model has 13 built-in percussion sounds, all of which are generated by analog circuits. These sounds include bass drum, snare, handclap, hi-hat (open/closed), rimshot, tambourine, cowbell, bongo, conga, and cymbal, characterized by a warm yet punchy, distinctive sound. The rhythm patterns include 32 presets, covering genres such as rock, disco, waltz, bossa nova, samba, and beguine. Each pattern has A/B variations that can be switched during performance. Additionally, the “Auto Fill In” function automatically inserts fill-ins (transitional rhythmic changes), creating a more natural, live-performance-like flow. The exterior features a cream-colored plastic casing reminiscent of home electronics from the era, with a practical and timeless simple design. The control panel offers excellent visibility and operability, enabling intuitive use. From a modern perspective, the CR-5000 is a highly appealing entry-level vintage rhythm machine that combines simple functionality with the warm, analog-like sound characteristic of analog devices. For artists focused on lo-fi hip-hop or retro sounds, it serves as a valuable option for obtaining unique rhythm materials.
This CR-5000 is in Good Condition, clean throughout with some signs of wear (see pictures), including scratches, scuffs and coloration. **The top of the cabinet has stickers and burn marks from cigarettes or something. Some parts of the back panel show signs of rust. This device has been tested by our professional technician and is working good. The serial number plate on the back of the enclosure has been removed so the serial number could not be verified.
