Very good condition 1951 Gibson L-4 in sunburst. No breaks. All original outside of the added DeArmond neck pickup. All top cracks have been glued and are not moving at all. Original tail piece is snug to the body. Original bridge is in good condition. Frets feel good and the action is nice and low. Very easy to play up the entire neck. This example is quite resonant and has a low-mid focused sound that makes for playing with a pick very percussive with a good amount of note definition. Medium weight, but lighter than other L-4’s I’ve played. Binding seems to be in good shape. Intonation is good. Original tuners work well and stay in tune. The back of the guitar has some scratching, but nothing to indicate the guitar was gigged etc. The back of the neck is smooth with lighter play wear. The added DeArmond pickup is wired, but the input jack is currently patched (can be easily rerouted, it’s only patched with tape under the input plate). Super quick repair. This example also seems to have a sunburst refinish, which can be indicated in the overspray on the guitar. Purely cosmetic of course, but worth noting. Comes with pictured hard shell case that fits the guitar quite well. Willing to ship or drive a reasonable distance. Always open to offers!
