1987 Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster Olympic White (Early Corona Production AV62 - AVRI'62)

Up for sale. An incredible and rare find, 1987 Fender American Vintage 1962 Stratocaster Reissue in Olympic White, one of the early Corona built examples from the years right after Fender reopened its California plant, and this one is dated straight to August of 1987 on both the neck heel stamp and the pots. It has the alder body and nitrocellulose finish these AVRI '62 reissues are known for, along with the correct slab rosewood fingerboard, C shape neck, and three single coil pickups that made these early Corona reissues such an accurate take on the original spec, and pretty similar inc curves and shapes with the earlier Fullerton run of reissues (same everything pretty much).

The guitar is all original with one exception, the pickguard, which is a correct Aged White Vintage Spec piece from Real Life Relics. When the guitar was acquired it had a different aftermarket pickguard on it with one extra hole drilled, invisible unless the pickguard is removed, and that is the only deviation anywhere on the instrument, no re-routes, no other modifications of any kind. The pickups and electronics are fully stock.

Condition is excellent, the guitar weighs right at 8.0 pounds, and it shows some genuinely great looking natural patina and yellowing consistent with its age. You can see in the internal photos how the original color has stayed preserved under the pickguard, neck plate, and tremolo cover, which lines up exactly with how these guitars age, the very thin nitrocellulose finish and the tinted neck lacquer Fender used on these early Fullerton/Corona reissues tend to amber and darken over time, just like the original 1962 Stratocasters they were built to replicate.

It plays great all the way up the neck and was just set up with a fresh set of D'Addario nickel strings. It comes with its original tweed tolex case.
