This is a copy of a Vuillaume violin made in the workshops of Jerome Thibouville-Lamy at Mirecourt, France around 1890. It comes with a silver mounted German-made bow from c.1900.
It is in excellent condition (for 135 years-old, there are no chips or major scratches). It comes with a hard case and I have the original receipts from the London dealers.
I paid £3600 for both the violin and bow when my daughter was accepted as a student to London's Junior Guildhall (at the Barbican). Sadly, she didn't continue with her music studies, preferring to pursue a career as an artist, and no longer plays music.
I have priced this beautiful instrument at a lower price accordingly as it really deserves to be played and cared for by a new owner and also to take into take account that a new owner will need to have it serviced by an experienced Luthier.
It will need to be played and any buyer will be expected to collect from London.
I am based in Hornchurch, east London, and happy to provide further information and to arrange an opportunity to try it.
