Fender Contemporary Stratocaster system 3 Mid 1980s - Ivory

I bought this Strat new at Bobs music shop in Fleet Hampshire in the mid 1980s, I found it great for the multiple different sounds easily available, it can go from Van Halen to Mark Knoffler in a flick of the selector switch. The condition is fair (see pics) with the usual small dents and paint flake but I guess that’s character.
I have to be honest I never really got on with the system III trem system, you either love it or hate it and the string changing is somewhat challenging the first time, I used to carry a small pair of long nose pliers in the event of a break. The quick release locking nut is as brilliant as the trem is underwhelming :)

The original hard case is no longer with us as i lent it out and never got it back! Also the original push in whammy bar is missing, I didn’t use the trem preferring winding the bridge to hard tail.

I recently bought a bar from ‘whammy parts USA’ (see receipt pic) but it isn’t quite correct and is a too loose fit. The originals are rare, but they do crop up or perhaps there’s a custom metalworker somewhere that could make a better one (dimensions are in manual supplied)

The build quality is first class, during this time only Japan made Fender guitars and this is a great example.
I would say as a hard tail it’s good to go, as a collectors guitar or a project it’s ideal .
